Food, family and a fun time!

Bonsoir mes amis!

Not sure why I'm feeling particularly french but anyhoo.  Sorry for the 'au retard' ness (double translation meaning intended) but I only just got back home from an amazing day (and night) out! Plus...if I go by the time on my oven (which hasnt been changed since the clocks went back) then I still have some time. Apologies to Kates for intruding on her day!

Well this week I actually have something interesting going on in my life..but because I'm going to write this blog from least to most recent we start with the least interesting:

Last week, I met up with my so called 'boss' aka WilLiam 'the puppet' Suitor (and I realise his code surname is rather appropriate) for dinner and we were talking about relationships. Somehow he is also in the 'Jess needs to get married' club which went from 'we need to get you a boyfriend' to if we are both single at 50, we get married. It started at 35 but 50 is the youngest age I could give him since I am still optimistic that I will be married before then. But come 50, my mother will be so happy..... Anyway this lead on to talking about the future...and esp for us girls (+ M/-\D since I remember you mentioning) can you believe that within the next 7 -9 years....we will be married with kids!?!?! OMG! I can't even look after myself...let alone children!! And 7 years isn't a lot. In fact probably in the next 5 years the majority of people I know will be married....and just when this dawned on me, I find out next year 2 of my cousins on my dad's side are getting married....(cue dramatic music/glass cracking/lightning/bulb going 'ping!')

We also celebrated my sister's boyfriend's birthday. We went to Yau Cha, a chinese fusion restaurant and had dim sum. It was amazing! I am purely mentioning this so that you can all realise what you are missing when it comes to dim sum and that we REALLY need to organize a Dim Sum reunions...yes..I have mentioned dim sum MULTIPLE times in this paragraph...purely to emphasize my point and subconsciously make dim sum radiate through your brains. In order to really make my point I have even included photos of what we ate :)

On top of that, I met more of my dad's family on Sat where we went...for dim sum!!! They were my dad's cousins from Brazil. Really lovely people who are trying to contact all of the 'insert surname here' clan.  This was their first time in London so we did lots of shopping with a side of sight seeing.

So every week must have a mix of ups and downs and unfortunately this week, the following story that you have all heard and hope would end (me most of all)....GBK has started annoying me via Facebook now! Urgh...today he even mentioned that we should 'exercise in bed'...*shivers in disgust*. He is leaving (hurrah!) for the land of fine wine, baguettes and cheese and has orgnised a leaving thing. So me, thinking I'll be polite and go the the last ever party he will ever invite me to, RSVP-ed 'attending' (besides, it is a cause for celebration) But just when I do so I discover he is coming back!!! argh the frustration! I felt like I had been conned! So what do I do?! Well misery likes company, right? Therefore I managed to get WilLiam 'the puppet' and Frenchy Pillai to attend too...haha..muahaha...muahahahahahahahahaahaaaaaaaaa.

Now, lets end this on a high! So today I went shopping with my friend Frandalf - she's back for reading week and has been deprived of proper shopping since october started, so I helped her get her shopping fix before she goes back. Plus we wanted to be organized and start our Christmas shopping early....however today we were too self involved...
Just for Kates:  I bought a really cute flower patterned strapless top, a velvet deep red skirt (both urban outfitters) and a dark lipstick this colour.
Cholesterol infested toast
So we went for bubble tea and a snack in Chinatown (where else are 2 orients going to choose!). I ordered toast with peanut butter and kaya. Kaya is a coconut and egg based jam originating from Singapore and Malaysia. Its so good! So anyway, I am so looking forward to this until the waitress places it in front of me.....fully filled with lovely peanut butter and kaya and...oh wait what are this cheese-like chucks!?! Solid lumps of butter! Trust the chinese to not realize that butter needs to be spread! *sighs* Although I was still content with the snack once the 'let me give you a heart attack' lumps were removed. Then we became engulfed by the asian inside of us (not really engulfed but too tired to think of a better word) and morphed into tourists, taking random pictures and talking in funny accents, standing in the middle of the road whilst trying to get a nice picture of a bus :).
Sake Addict @_@
Then we went to this really nice Japanese restaurant, Bincho. It specialises in Yakitori with are esentialy Japanese kebabs. Really nice with traditional Japanese Sake in a sake box. And finished off with apple sorbet- amazing!! They have really interesting ice cream and sorbet flavours! We should definitely go to this place! Esp on Mondays as they have Sake Madness where sake is only £1 and some of the kebabs are also £1. I digress....
To finish off such an AWESOME day we went to KARAOKE!!!!! At a place called Lucky Voice. Plus courtesy of SJA and the NHS we got 4 free hours of singing!!!! Only on Sundays or Mondays but we should SOOOOOO do this!!! T'was the perfect ending to an amazing day :)

Now for my usual 2 random thoughts/ side notes:
1. Have been watching Gilmore Girls, back to back. Already gotten through season 1 and mid way in season 2....Lorelai Gilmore the Second (i.e. the mum...well main mum since there are lots of mums in that show) is so self involved!!! GEEEEEZ!
2. VEEEEEEEERRRRRYYY disappointed with the Christmas lights this year. Was slightly last year but twice in a row!!! I just think that if they are going to make such a big deal about them then they have to be worth it.....

Already looking forward to putting up the Christmas tree >.<

Miss you like a fat kid on a diet misses cake!!
