I can't grab the rabbits by their ears?!?!?!?!?!

Hi all, hope you all had a wonderful week. I'm sure many of you will be wondering, "hmmm, I wonder how B/E's week was." (wishful thinking this is). Anyhow, my week was very good! Found out today I have passed modules 1-4 for my home office license and I am now officially capable to carry out surgical procedures on mice, rats, guinea pigs and rabbits or any other vertebrates (excluding man) but including Octopus vulgaris. No, octopus is not a vertebrate, and no I do not not what makes them so special that they deserve a special mention in the law.

Moving on swiftly, it was during my revision for the exam that I realised the common misconception of grabbing the rabbits by their ears is VERY difficult, not to mention it is forbidden by law as it is disrespectful and probably inflicts pain and suffering on the animal. Wow, what a shocker (I'm being genuine here)! The cartoon producers really need to change that on TV!

I have also completed 2 powerpoint presentations and 1 poster to be presented, plus a bunch of experiments and the home office license exam in 4 days. Busy times isn't it? However, due to the ever growing "to do" list, I have missed the opportunity to grab a ticket for the PhD movie, "Piled higher and deeper", which showed at Bristol University Union yesterday. I had been waiting and looking forward to this since my 3rd year at university, ever since our dear friend, Mr Testi introduced me to the PhD comics! *Sobs* and *sniffs*.

Yes, my week has been as geeky as ever and with the swarm of 3rd year project students (10 of them!!!) in my lab, overtaking my work bench and using up all the pipette tips and water I autoclaved. They are behaving like cockroaches (and I was just like one of these cocroaches when I did my BSc I suppose), big, fat, flying cockroaches!!! P.S. I shiver at the thought of cockroaches in genearl, so that's why I only work in the hours that they are not there.
