Hangovers, Electro Pop and The Awkward Turtle Club

Hi again everyone, I've been away a little while and this visit is looong overdue but thanks to the magic of the internet, it will slip seamlessly into the right place...

First things first, last Friday (Nov 4th) I attended my friend Simone's AMAZING 21st birthday party at her house complete with the tastiest Caribbean style food, a massive sound system and 3 hookah pipes for shisha. That last feature wasn't much to liking and while a lot of the guests partook of the admittedly sweet smelling, apple and bubble gum infused tobacco, I abstained. Aroma aside, I really can't see the appeal. But regardless the party was so much fun, the food, the music (mainly Bashment) and  therefore some serious dancing all the way up until about 4am. The best thing was seeing a lot of my friends from around Woodford, catching up over a shot or 5. To put it politely, my head was certainly a-knocking the next morning and as my regular 9am alarm blared out daring to raise me from my self induced coma, I turned it off without an inch of regret. Suffice to say I did not make it Saturday morning hills :)

Right, next up this may come as a surprise, but this week I fell in love....with a band. Hot on the heels of downloading the Drive soundtrack and the reawakening of my appreciation for 80's style synth music (Yeah, I'm serious) I discover thanks to the wonderful Pseudo blog CLASS ACTRESS!!! A talented New York 3 piece fronted by one Elizabeth Harper. Have a listen......

I just LOVE their music, if you happened pass by my Facebook you would have seen me raving about them before so I apologise for the repetition,  but I would highly recommend their LP Rapprocher. The songs chart an electro pop, synth laden journey through love, lust and an eventual break up, but it's no 21 by Adele being much more upbeat and danceable. I kept myself up all Wednesday night listening to it. SOOO good in my opinion.

Speaking of love and lust (well...not really), I can now officially confirm that I am no longer worried by the close attentions of G, that girl on my course with whom I have quickly and baffling become 'best' friends with. I think I'm fine with being her go to person for any and all information, receiving on average 2 awkward calls a day from the same person isn't so bad I guess....

I think I'll leave it there, come back again soon

Top 3 things that made me smile this week

1). Getting a reply back from Josie Long on twitter (sad, I know but she's really cool)
2). The cutting of the birthday cake at Simone's 21st
3). Listening to Rapprocher
